President Petro delivered a Christmas message to Colombians across the nation, emphasizing the importance of unity and dialogue in achieving peace. Petro, surrounded by his family, reflected on the past year as a period of profound change and a historic moment for Colombia, expressing pride in leading “a movement that has brought together Colombians from diverse regions, beliefs, and backgrounds.” The central theme of his message was the construction of a more just country and the pursuit of total peace for all its citizens.

Dialogue and Development in Petro’s Christmas Message

Petro highlighted that his government, in its initial months, has focused on dialogue and unity as fundamental values, mirroring the spirit of Colombian families. He stressed that dialogue is crucial for realizing the changes he proposed during his mandate. One of the key initiatives he mentioned was the development of Binding Regional Dialogues, which he described as one of the most valuable gifts he received this year. These dialogues have allowed the government to connect with thousands of citizens, incorporating their ideas into the National Development Plan.

A United Path to Peace

In his address, Petro emphasized the global need for peace and expressed hope that the Christmas season would inspire Colombians to be examples of peace both domestically and internationally. He thanked Colombians of various backgrounds for their commitment to building a just and peaceful nation. Petro also acknowledged the challenges faced by many families due to unprecedented rainfall and assured that his government is working to provide solutions to those most affected.
