The cost of the U.S. visa in Colombia for 2024 depends on the category of visa needed by the applicant. The processing of this document is done through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and its price may vary in both dollars and euros, depending on the currency used.

Aspirations of traveling to the United States are on the rise among Colombians, whether for work, study, or tourism. However, realizing this goal requires obtaining a visa, a mandatory document facilitating entry and stay in the North American country for a specified duration.

Visa categories and fee adjustments

It is essential to note that various visa types cater to different travel purposes, and the application process is facilitated through the U.S. Embassy, involving several stages, including fee payment.

The cost of obtaining a U.S. visa in Colombia depends on the visa category and purpose of travel. Notably, the U.S. Department of State implemented fee adjustments from June 17, 2023. While most non-immigrant visa categories (B1/B2) experienced a $25 increase, petition-based visas (H, L, O, P, Q, and R) saw a $15 rise, with an additional $110 for investor visas.

As of now, there have been no further announcements of fee changes for the year 2024. The adjusted fees are as follows:

Visitor visas for business or tourism (B1/B2 and BCC): $185 (approximately 724,000 Colombian pesos at the time of writing).

Worker visas (H, L, O, P, Q, and R): $205 (approximately 802,000 Colombian pesos at the time of writing).

Trader and investor visas: $315 (approximately 1,233,199 Colombian pesos at the time of writing).

Application process

To apply for a U.S. visa, applicants are required to follow a structured process as outlined by the U.S. Embassy in Colombia:

Complete the DS-160 form: Ensure the form is filled in accurately, and do not forget to print the confirmation page for the application interview.

Schedule your interview: Keep in mind that waiting times may vary based on location, season, and visa category.

Pay the visa application fee: This non-refundable fee must be paid before the scheduled interview.

Compile required documentation: Necessary documents include your passport, completed application form, visa fee payment receipt, and a printed photograph. Additional documents may be requested.

Attend the interview: During the interview, consular officials will provide information on any further administrative processing if required.
