The Colombian singer Feid disrupted maritime traffic on the Miami River through an event to promote his latest album. Yesterday, aboard a giant yacht, the Medellin-born artist had called his Miami fan base to join him in the bay to celebrate the release of his new album, Manifesting 20-05, featuring the reggaeton legend Yandel.

While the event was scheduled and referred to Miami’s authorities, the gathering quickly sparked confusion on the river and on the docks.

The album live party prompted a significant water traffic jam and crowding on the docks as fans gathered en masse to listen to the live performance from the two artists, who had initially planned to perform the entire album.

Faced with the disorder, Miami maritime police quickly interrupted the event, prematurely shutting down the party.

Feid, from Medellin to Miami

Born on August 19, 1992, Salomon Villada Hoyos alias ‘Feid’ is the current leading figure of Colombian reggaeton. With an over a decade long career, Feid rose to fame in the past years, recently winning six Latin American Music Awards.

Over the past months, Feid released two albums, FERXXOCALIPSIS and Manifesting 20-05, the latter being a collaboration with Porto Rican artist Yandel.

Colombians in Miami

Miami and Florida are home to the largest Colombian American community, with approximately 30 percent of all Colombians living in the US residing there. For this reason, Miami also happens to be an important center of cultural and musical activity for the Colombian community.

Every year, the local diaspora organizes the Miami Barranquilla Carnival, with thousands of participants celebrating Colombian culture. In addition, Miami is also home to many Colombian artists who have set up residency in the Magic City, like Feid, Maluma, and Karol G.
