Before Trump ever stepped into the White House, he could be found on the silver screen in various film roles. He was also known for his appearances on reality TV, both for his signature show, “The Apprentice“, and his numerous appearances on programs like Oprah. With 30 acting credits to his name, Trump’s IMDb acting profile would surprise anyone who only knows him as president of the United States.
Donald Trump’s film roles
Whether Trump was playing himself or someone else, his list of film roles is extensive. His acting credits span nearly a decade and include appearances in some of extremely popular films.
“Ghosts Can’t Do It”
Trump’s first film role was in the 1989 film “Ghost’s Can’t Do It.” Although his screen time in this movie was short, it was longer than some of his other appearances. The most memorable aspect of Trump’s performance in this movie is the following line: “Be assured Mrs. Scott, that in this room, there are knives sharp enough to cut you to the bone, and hearts cold enough to eat yours as hors d’oeuvre.”
“Home Alone 2: Lost in New York”
In one of his most iconic film roles, Trump makes a cameo appearance as himself in the film “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.” While his scene is brief, it is memorable due to the massive popularity of the Home Alone movie series. All the president-elect says in the film is, “Down the hall and to the left,” in response to a question posed by Kevin McAllister (played by Macaulay Culkin) asking where the lobby is.
“The Little Rascals”
In 1994, Trump appeared in the movie “The Little Rascals.” This movie role marks one of the few times Trump has not played himself. Trump plays the father of Waldo (who is himself played by Blake Mclver Ewing). All he says is, ” Waldo, you’re the best son money can buy,” before the credits roll.
“Across the Sea of Time”
Probably one of the most minor of Trump’s film roles, “Across the Sea of Time” is a movie about a young boy from Russia who just immigrated to the U.S. The boy sets out to learn about his American roots after an old family photograph reveals his origins. Trump plays himself in the film, specifically as a New York businessman.
“Eddie”
Trump also had a cameo role in the 1996 film “Eddie,” which featured Whoopi Goldberg. In the movie, he has a classic Trump moment, where he takes the credit for hiring the titular Eddie. Trump said in the film, “Actually, hiring Eddie was my idea from the beginning.”
“The Associate”
Trump has another prominent film role in a second Whoopi Goldberg movie. “The Associate” sees him do another short cameo. In this instance, he accompanies the main character to dinner.
“54”
While Trump does not appear in the original cut of this movie, he does appear in the Director’s Cut. In the extended version of “54,” Trump plays the role of a VIP patron.
“Zoolander”
Thanks to the film’s popularity, Trump’s film role in “Zoolander” is one of his most memorable. In the movie, Trump says, “Without Derek Zoolander, male modeling would not be what it is today.”
“Two Weeks Notice”
One of Trump’s more active film roles, “Two Weeks Notice,” features the president having a whole conversation with Hugh Grant. However, according to what he said on the Graham Norton Show, Trump has no recollection of being in the movie.
“He played a bit part as himself in a romantic comedy I did with Sandra Bullock,” Trump said. “But the fact is that I don’t really remember him very well. The night he came, I had a bet with Sandy that I could make the chairman of Warner Bros. cry by 9 p.m. And I was completely focused on that. It’s quite a big bet. She didn’t believe I could do it, but I did it.”
“Marmalade”
In 2004, Trump made a cameo in the film Marmalade. He didn’t have any quotes in the movie and it was his last movie appearance.
