The official trailer for the South Korean film Bogota: City of the Lost is now available. This highly anticipated production will hit Colombian theaters on December 31.

The movie stars Song Joong-ki, one of South Korea’s most renowned actors, known for his roles in Netflix series like Vincenzo and the film My Name is Loh Kiwan. The trailer introduces Guk-hee, a young Korean man who emigrates to Colombia with his family in the 1990s, facing the challenges of life in Bogota.

Bogota: City of the Lost portrays the experiences of Korean immigrants in Colombia’s capital, who sought opportunities in the bustling markets of San Andresito, an iconic hub of informal commerce in the country.

About the production of Bogota: City of the Lost

The film premiered on October 11 during the Busan International Film Festival, standing out as a collaboration between Colombia and South Korea. It is the first Korean production to benefit from the tax incentives offered under Colombia’s Law 1556, a policy designed to boost the country’s audiovisual industry.

Directed by Kim Seong-je, filming began in 2019 but faced several delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Additional scenes were shot in South Korea in 2021. “Thanks to the dedication of the team and the Colombian actors, we overcame the challenges and completed the filming,” said producer Park Sung-il. The film is expected to be a box office success.

The movie features Colombian actresses Juana del Río and Cristal Aparicio. Juana del Río is known for her roles in series such as La Ley Secreta and Frontera Verde, while Cristal Aparicio gained recognition as the lead in the film Sound of Freedom. Both actresses traveled to South Korea in June 2021 to complete the final scenes of the movie.

With a compelling story exploring the struggles of immigrants and a unique collaboration between two countries, Bogota: City of the Lost promises to be a standout production to close the year in Colombian cinema.
