Recent research has highlighted variations in average penis sizes worldwide, from Colombia to Cambodia. Data from nearly 90 countries gives insight into these differences, revealing intriguing patterns.
Over 40 studies were analyzed by German researchers to compile this data. They studied thousands of men, examining factors like BMI, age, and physical traits.
While the findings highlight intriguing patterns, experts caution against making oversimplified assumptions. Genetic, cultural, and environmental influences likely shape these differences.
How sizes are measured?
To ensure accuracy, measurements were taken along the top of the penis, from the base to the tip. If extra tissue was present at the base, it was carefully compressed. For circumference, measurements focused on the base, but some studies included measurements from other areas. Inconsistent methods were removed to keep the data reliable.
Interestingly, size didn’t strongly correlate with age or height. While shorter men tended to have smaller sizes on average, this link disappeared when erect lengths exceeded 12 cm. Similarly, no clear connection was found between size and age.
Body mass index (BMI) showed mixed results. Most studies found no relationship between BMI and penis size. However, isolated studies from Italy and India hinted at a potential link, but these findings remain unconfirmed.
Colombia’s and global average penis sizes
Countries vary widely in average sizes. Out of the 20 countries with largest average penis size, nine are located in Africa and five in Latin America. Ecuador leads the list with the largest average size of nearly 7 inches (17.6 cm) while Colombia ranks 21st with an average of 5.9 inches (15.26cm).
The smallest penis sizes in the world can be found in Asia, with Cambodian men have the smallest average, just under 4 inches (10 cm), followed by Myanmar, Philippines and Sri Lanka.
The UK ranks 68th with 5.2 inches (13.1 cm), while the US is slightly higher at 60th with 5.4 inches (13.5 cm). Australia stands at 43rd with an average of 5.7 inches (14.46 cm). European nations like the Netherlands, France, and Italy average between 6 and 6.2 inches (15.2–15.7 cm).
Growers vs. showers
The study also explored differences between “growers” and “showers.” A grower experiences a significant increase in size when erect, while a shower’s size changes little, gaining mostly firmness.
Climate may play a role in these differences. Researchers found that men in colder regions are more likely to be growers, possibly as an adaptation to conserve heat.
