The year 2024 in Colombia is filled with holidays that will allow citizens and students to enjoy breaks in their daily activities. With a total of 17 holidays marked on the calendar, this year reflects a diverse mix of religious, historical, and cultural celebrations, providing a varied palette of non-working days.

Compared to the previous year, there is a decrease in the number of holidays, dropping from 20 in 2023 to 17 in 2024. This reduction is due to holidays that fall on a Sunday, which are not considered days off from work.

Colombia one of the countries with the most holidays

Despite this decrease, Colombia remains one of the countries with the most holidays in the region, offering a significant number of breaks throughout the year, in addition to the usual weekends.

The holiday calendar in 2024 shows three months without official holidays: February, April, and September. March stands out as the month with the most festivities, with the celebration of Holy Week. Additionally, June, July, August, and November will also have several days off.

The holiday system in Colombia establishes that both public and private sector workers are entitled to paid rest days on official holidays. Law 51 of 1983, commonly known as the Emiliani Law after Raimundo Emiliani Romon, states that 10 holidays are moved to the following Monday after the original date, thus allowing for a better distribution of holidays and generating long weekends in some cases.

Below are the Colombian holiday dates for the year 2024:

February: No fixed holidays.
