Colombia has the coolest neighborhood in the world, according to a recent survey made by the magazine ‘Time Out’. The neighborhood is located in Medellin, hometown of world-famous Colombian artists such as J Balvin, Karol G and Maluma.
On the west side of Medellín, Laureles was the sector of the city to which Time Out decided to give the no.1 spot in its “Coolest Neighborhoods” due to its countless coffee shops, parks, tree-lined streets, and “pretty laid-back reputation” despite its being home to the nightlife street “La 70” and the Atanasio Girardot stadium.
Time Out also mentions how, despite Medellin having its popular areas such as ‘El Poblado’ “overrun” by tourists, Laureles still has a traditional Colombian feeling, with fruit vendors pushing their carts full of fruit through the streets of the neighborhood.

Every year Time Out asks experts around the globe to tell them the “coolest” spots around their cities, and ranks 40 of them according to fun, food, culture and community.
Recently Laureles took first place in a list comprising neighborhoods of such cities as Madrid, Tokyo, and Milan. This is the list’s top 10:
