The Colombian sensation Karol G has returned to her home country for a two-day tour in Bogota, as part of her Mañana Será Bonito World Tour, on April 5 and 6, 2024. In addition to delighting her fans, the Colombian singer’s tour is also excellent news for the economy of the Colombian capital, as it is expected to attract 30,000 international tourists and generate over 7,000 direct jobs.

The “Mañana Será Bonito World Tour” by Karol G is organized into three phases. The initial phase took place in the US, beginning on August 10, 2023, in Las Vegas, and concluding on September 28, 2023, in Boston. The ongoing second phase is a Latin American tour that started on December 1, 2023, in Medellin and is slated to end in São Paulo, Brazil, on May 10, 2024. The tour’s final phase will occur in Europe, commencing in Zurich, Switzerland, on June 8, and culminating in Madrid with a four-day performance from July 20 to 23, 2024. Since the onset of her world tour, Karol G has already generated over 200 million dollars in revenue from her performances.

In total, 80,000 people are expected to attend Karol G’s concerts in Bogota at the Nemesio Camacho El Campin stadium. Musicians have an incredible ability to gather large crowds and thus generate temporary, but intense, economic activity. During her last visit to Medellin on December 1 and 2, 2023, Karol G generated 70,000 jobs for the occasion and an influx of 11 million. Now, Bogota is expecting 30,000 foreigners, mainly from Latin America, who should boost the hotel, restaurant, and informal trade sectors. Overall, Karol G’s concert is projected to generate 4 billion COP (over one million dollars) in taxes and directly benefit the city’s economy by 1 billion pesos (around $US260,000).

Karol G, the leading lady of reggaeton

Born Carolina Giraldo Navarro in Medellin on February 14, 1991, Karol G stands as one of the leading figures in the reggaeton music genre and the most popular female Colombian singer worldwide, following Shakira, amassing over 23 billion views on her YouTube channel. She began her career at a young age, releasing her first song at the age of 16, in 2007. Her career took off in the mid-2010s and reached a new level through collaborations and her relationship with Puerto Rican urban music artist Anuel AA.

Since then, Karol G has released several global hits, including collaborations with American hip-hop star Nicki Minaj on “Tusa” and “TQG” with fellow Colombian Shakira, with the song reaching the number 7 position on the Billboard Hot 100. Her latest album, “Mañana Sera Bonito,” received a Grammy for Best Música Urbana Album in 2024 and was the first Spanish-language album ever to debut at the number one spot on the Billboard 200 record chart.
