Ryan Castro Releases His First Album

Ryan Castro, the Colombian reggaeton singer, has just released his first album, ‘El Cantante Del Ghetto’ (The Ghetto Singer). Available on all streaming platforms, the album features 18 tracks and includes many collaborations with prominent reggaeton artists such as Arcangel, Yandel, Jowell & Randy and the Mexican phenomenon Peso Pluma.

Ryan Castro is one of the most recent talents to emerge from the Colombian music scene. Originating from Medellin, Ryan Castro is part of the new generation of Colombian reggaeton artists, alongside Karol G, Feid or Blessd, who have achieved global success.

From humble beginnings, Ryan Castro began his musical carrer as a street rapper, performing on public transport, then in bars and nightclubs. His musical career took off in 2020 with the release of ‘Lejania’, a song blending R&B and dancehall. Later, he found international success with reggaeton tracks like ‘Monastery’, featuring Feid, ‘Mujeriego’, and especially ‘Jordan’, which has accumulated 442 million views on YouTube.

Aged 30 years old, Ryan Castro has now reached a global audience, with performances scheduled this year in the U.S., Mexico, Spain and even Qatar.

To promote the release of his first album, Ryan Castro toured the buses of Bogota, the capital, reflecting his journey from humble beginnings to tremendous success.

After Puerto Rico, Colombia -and especially Medellin- is the second major global hub for reggaeton. Arriving in the city in the 2000s, reggaeton gained phenomenal popularity. It was immediately embraced by the Medellin music scene, which has propeled some of the biggest global stars of the genre, such as J Balvin, Maluma, as well as the Puerto Rican Nicky Jam, who relaunched his career there, and more recently Karol G and Feid.
