Throughout 2023, Colombia secured its position in various international travel rankings, gaining recognition for its attractions, towns, and cities. The country featured prominently in at least five global rankings compiled by firms and entities specializing in the tourism sector, making it a must-see destination by 2024.

The most beautiful towns

Acknowledging 54 towns worldwide for their cultural and natural values, the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) spotlighted two Colombian municipalities: Zapatoca in Santander and Filandia in Quindio.

Zapatoca earned acclaim for its hiking experiences, Pauche handicrafts, and other iconic Colombian handicrafts, as well as its natural spaces. Filandia, on the other hand, stood out for its architecture, handicrafts, specialty coffee shops, picturesque landscapes, warm inhabitants, and a rich array of cultural and natural attractions.

World’s coolest neighborhood

In mid-October 2023, ‘Time Out’ magazine unveiled its latest ranking of the world’s most fun, interesting, and trendy neighborhoods. Laureles, located in the west of Medellin, claimed the top spot.

The magazine highlighted Laureles as one of the few areas in the city resisting widespread gentrification, featuring attractions like the vibrant 70th street known for its nightlife and the Atanasio Girardot Stadium.

Best city for dining

TasteAtlas, recognizing culinary diversity worldwide, compiled a list of the best gastronomic cities globally. Bogota secured the 32nd position, boasting a rating of 4.54 out of 5 for traditional dishes like ajiaco, almojabana, and obleas. The capital was celebrated for offering nearly every type of Colombian cuisine.
