The Only Nudist Beach in Colombia

Colombia is a country full of incredible diversity, stunning landscapes, and a vibrant culture. Many tourists and locals do not know of the existence of the only nudist beach in Colombia. Hidden away in Parque Tayrona, Boca del Saco is a sanctuary for those who are interested in this uninhibited kind of tourism. The beach is located less than half an hour away from Santa Marta, the capital of the Magdalena region.

Authorities have stated that this beach is not legally designated as a nudist beach. Instead, it became one because it is not a very popular beach amongst visitors to the park, and its seclusion gave nudists the green light. 

They also note that tourists cannot bathe in the sea on this beach. Instead, they can only enjoy the shallow water on the shore. Boca del Saco has become a very popular destination amongst social media influencers, many of whom preach body positivity and the mental health benefits of nudism, and claim that it is a liberating experience. There are thousands of pictures tagging the beach in social media applications such as Instagram. 

What makes the beach so attractive?

Local tourism guides claim that, besides nudists, eco-tourists are drawn to this beach because of its remoteness. They explain that the beach is not visited much because people have to take a long hike to get there. 

The secluded beach is the last one in the park’s eastern area. Juan Carlos Rodriguez, a Tayrona National Park contractor, revealed that Boca del Saco—accessible via a 2-hour and 45-minute walk from the park’s entrance—stands out for its seclusion, making it an appealing destination for eco-tourism. Its remoteness contributes to its status as an almost pristine ecosystem, untouched by pollution or contamination.
