Javier Milei Splits from His Girlfriend Fatima Florez

The President of Argentina, Javier Milei, has publicly announced the end of his relationship with actress and comedian Fatima Florez, with whom he had entered into a relationship during the 2023 electoral process. This disclosure was made by the President himself on his official X account on April 12th, during his diplomatic tour in the United States.

The news broke on Friday night, shortly after Milei’s meeting with entrepreneur Elon Musk in Austin, Texas. Among the reasons for the breakup, Milei highlighted Florez’s increasing professional opportunities in the United States and Europe. Coupled with the demands of his presidency, the frequent geographical distance rendered their desired romantic relationship unfeasible.

The dissolution of their relationship, occurring a mere four months into Milei’s presidency, leaves behind a series of notable public events. Milei had attended several of Florez’s theatrical performances, engaged in meetings with renowned television host Mirtha Legrand—who initially facilitated the couple’s introduction—and participated in various presidential ceremonies.

Recently, Milei and Florez were seen together in Miami, where the Argentine President was honored by Jabad Lubavitch, an Ultra-Orthodox Jewish organization. His sister and Secretary-General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, whom the Argentine press has pointed out as having influenced the breakup, was also present. As their joint public appearances became increasingly infrequent and rumors escalated, the official announcement followed.

Despite the separation, the Argentine right-wing President stated that he and Florez will continue to maintain a friendship, underscoring their mutual appreciation. “We have decided to end our relationship and maintain a bond of friendship given what we feel for each other and how much we love, respect, and admire each other,” Milei conveyed in his X post.

Milei had originally intended to travel from Miami to Copenhagen over the past weekend to attend the delivery of F-16 fighter jets to the Argentine Air Force. However, this trip was suspended, as the President returned to Argentina to convene a crisis committee in response to the escalating situation in Israel. Additionally, he sought to coordinate efforts with fellow Western leaders.
