Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple, attended the inauguration of the Game Changers Fest 2024 in Bogota Colombia on Friday, April 26. At this premier entrepreneurship event in Latin America, running until April 28, Wozniak discussed the potential establishment of the first software developer school in Colombia.

As the co-founder of Apple alongside Steve Jobs and the creator of the first personal computer, Wozniak’s presence at the event underscored his status as a technology pioneer. The software engineer and philanthropist addressed various topics, including entrepreneurship and the impact of innovation on business and society.

Steve Wozniak proposes software developer school in Colombia

Expressing his interest in establishing a software developer school in Colombia, Wozniak remarked: “I would love to establish a school in Colombia, as I believe it is the best way I can contribute to the growth and development of entrepreneurs, through the art of entrepreneurship. It would be wonderful to do so.”

Throughout the event, there was strong support for Wozniak’s proposed initiative, with entrepreneurs expressing their willingness to provide financial backing for the establishment of the school. Wozniak also shared: “I have always dreamed of being a teacher and supporting people in their learning, fostering their growth and creation. My passion is related to sharing my knowledge and helping them achieve goals they never imagined, through the power of education.”

High-profile figures highlight Colombian entrepreneurship event

Additionally, the event featured participation from the Tonino Lamborghini group, which is exploring opportunities in Colombia for luxury construction projects in Medellin and Bogota, preserving the glamour and style of Lamborghini.

Furthermore, among the list of over 30 exhibitors are figures such as Simon Borrero, CEO and Co-founder of Rappi, recognized as one of the most important leaders in high-impact entrepreneurship in the continent. Additionally, experts such as Paula Barcenas from TikTok Latin America and the Colombian entrepreneur Wilder Zapata, CEO and founder of Action Black will participate.

Steve Wozniak’s fondness for Colombia

In his speech, Wozniak emphasized the importance of making and generating changes in companies, the importance of self-confidence, and motivation for business success. He attributed his accomplishments primarily to his unwavering passion and determination, illustrating how these qualities have propelled his career trajectory.

He also fondly recalled one of his first visits to Colombia almost 20 years ago, expressing his affection for the country. “The first place I traveled to talk about Apple, entrepreneurship, and computers was Bogota, almost 20 years ago, which is why it will always be in my heart”, Wozniak said.
