Festival Estereo Picnic was an economic success. The event was able to profit from its most diverse lineup to date. A blend of nostalgic acts such as Proyecto Uno and some of the hottest artists in the world, like Feid, won over the audiences in Bogotá.

The festival lasted four days. According to Bogota’s tourism institute, the event drew 159,000 festivalgoers, 31,000 of whom were tourists. The total profits for the city were $11 million. The hospitality and catering sectors in the city benefited the most from the influx of tourists, and Estereo Picnic created 66,000 jobs.

On its X account, the Secretary of Culture of Bogotá said, “The city deserves world-class cultural venues. Events such as the Estreo Picnic dynamize the economy, elevate culture, and promote employment and tourism. The success of #BogotaModoFestival is thanks to all of us.”

Besides the economic success of Festival Estereo Picnic, the lineup was also a hit. More than 100 artists rocked the crowd, with Reggaeton and urban artists being the main attractions. Feid drove the crowd wild with his hits, but local artists also enjoyed the spotlight.

Bogota locals’ La Etnia was a smash hit and rocked the festival as soon as they started playing their classics. However, there was a clear appetite for international acts. Bands such as Limp Bizkit, Blink 182, Arcade Fire, and Thirty Seconds to Mars satisfied thousands of nostalgic fans.

Two surprising hits were Proyecto Uno and Fruko y Sus Tesos (‘Fruko and his treasures’), the first being one of Merengue’s most important artists, and the latter a staple of Colombian salsa. These two bands had festivalgoers dancing the night away.

The festival was an intense experience. The people who did not make it inside were able to catch some of the music from outside the gates. Overall, this edition of Festival Estreo Picnic showed that Bogota is ready to hold world-class events. Thousands of people were able to enjoy some of their favorite artists in peace and without any major logistical failures. It remains to be seen if next year’s edition will also be held inside the city, or if organizers will choose to take it to the outskirts again.
