Colombian Artists Dominate Latin American Music Awards 2024

The Latin American Music Awards once again recognized the talent and quality of Colombian music artists. This year, Medellin-born artists Feid and Karol G won the most awards, each securing six, with Karol G winning the Album of the Year, Artist of the Year and Song of the Year along with Shakira. The superstar from Barranquilla received three awards, including Best Pop Artist and Best Pop Song for her “Acrostico” theme.

Manuel Turizo, the Colombian singer from Monteria on the Caribbean Coast, won the Best Tropical Collaboration Award for his song “El Merengue” featuring US DJ Marshmello. Additionally, Kali Uchis, a Colombian American singer with roots in Pereira, claimed the Best Pop Album award for “Orquideas.”

Colombians lead the 2024 Latin Music Awards

Colombian artists won 16 out of 27 awards at the 2024 Latin American Music Awards ceremony, securing the most important and coveted awards.

Karol G emerged as the Artist of the Year, surpassing well-known figures such as Dominican bachata singer Romeo Santos and Puerto Rican reggaeton artist Bad Bunny. Karol G also clinched the Album of the Year award with ‘Mañana Sera Bonito,’ as well as Song of the Year alongside Shakira, for their ‘TQG’ collaboration. Additionally, she won the Best Urban Album and Best Urban Artist awards, and was recognized as the Best Global Latin Artist of the Year.

Feid, the reggaeton phenomenon from Medellin, also won several prestigious prizes. For his ‘Yandel 150’ song featuring reggaeton legend Yandel, Feid won both Collaboration of the Year and Best Urban Song award. For his ‘Classy 101’ collaboration with Puerto Rican rapper Young Miko, Feid was awarded the Global Latin Song of the Year and Best Urban Collaboration prizes. His ‘Niña Bonita’ collaboration with Sean Paul, the dancehall superstar, was also honored with the Collaboration of the Year award. In addition, Feid was recognized as the Streaming Artist of the Year for his spectacular performances on streaming platforms.

Karol G, Shakira and Feid World Tours

This year marks a significant milestone for Colombian music and artists as Colombian superstars have announced world tours.

Shakira’s ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour’ will first visit the US, from November 2 to December 15, with concerts scheduled in Phoenix, San Antonio, Dallas, Miami, Boston, New York, Chicago, and Detroit, as well as Toronto and Montreal in Canada.

Feid’s ‘FERXXOCALIPSIS Latin America Tour’ will be touring the subcontinent from August 20 to December 7, with shows planned in Mexico, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Chile, and Colombia, among others.

Karol G’s ‘Mañana Sera Bonito World Tour’ is currently touring Latin America until May 10, concluding with a show in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and will commence a European tour from June 8 to July 23, visiting cities such as Paris, London, Milan, Berlin, and Madrid, among other venues.
